As an artist in the constructivist style, Michael Canney paints his Umbrian Accents here as an oil on canvas. Angular blocks of colour outlined in broken off white lines. This painting by Michael Canney dates from the 1970’s and has been authenticated by his son (label verso).
We have it on good authority that at this time Canney was creating his own colours experimenting with grinding pigments which may explain the interesting almost stone textured Umbrian colours and unusual blending on the canvas.
