Arthur Knighton-Hammond 1875 - 1970
A delightfully British watercolour sketch of Haymaking Nr Bodiam Castle (East Sussex). On closer inspection, we do wonder if the clothes may indicate that this a scene of workers from the Women’s Land Army which was formed in 1917 and re-kindled in 1939 and better known as the ‘Land Girls’. We love the strong horses.
