John Plumb studied under Anthony Gross, Victor Passmore & Keith Vaughan at Central School 1952 – 1955.
Although recognised for his british abstract artworks, he was also incredibly skilled as a figurative artist. This figurative pastel shows a reflective turn in his later career. Soft tonal layering and a meditative composition evoke the quiet intimacy of the artist’s studio view, offering a compelling contrast to his earlier geometric abstractions. Rich in atmosphere and emotional depth, this painting is a lovely and collectible example of Plumb’s mature style. And as with all good art, there is a story attached to it.
