From our research:
The label to the rear faintly reads R A Painting No. 100, however painting No. 100 in the RA’s 1892 Exhibition Catalogue is titled ‘A Plank Warf’ by Frank Batson (fl 1892 – 1926) so is incorrect.
However, James Levin Henry is listed in the 1892 Royal Academy Catalogues under List of Exhibitors, Page 71, Henry, J.L, 9 Warwick Place, Maida Hill – 195
The number 195 above relates to the painting number he exhibited that year. Painting No. 195 is titled ‘Summer Pastures’ by James L. Henry and was exhibited in Gallery No. III (Oil Paintings nos. 160 – 267) in the 1892 show and can be found on page 11 of the RA Exhibition Catalogue.
We believe that this painting is James Levin Henry’s ‘Summer Pastures’ Painting
